Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust AGM Field Trip to Waikaia

Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th September 2015.

We have local identity and enthusiast Garth Mahon on many of our visits plus local station owners/managers and other specialist speakers throughout the weekend.

Do bring your 4WD if you have one. However if you don’t, we always have spare seats so you can jump in with someone else for the 4WD excursions. (Bring a $5 note or something for the driver.)

10.30am Meet at Awatere Station (10mins out of Waikaia up Winding Creek Road) BYO morning tea. Hot water provided.
Awatere Station talk and King Solomon’s Mine (area) tour
11.45 AGM at the Waikaia hotel
12.30 Lunch
1.30pm Visit to Waikaia Gold Mine
2.30pm Visit to Thompsons Farm
3.30pm Afternoon tea in the hills on Glencairn Station
6pm Dinner with guest speaker William McKee at Waikaia Hotel

8am Breakfast (at the café opposite the Hotel)
9am visit to the old Chinese Cemetery
10am ‘The Button’ History display at the community centre. Morning Tea.
12pm Picnic lunch in the hills (provided) – views over Gows Creek watershed
2pm Piano and Whitcomb Flats.
