January 2018 Newsletter

Seasons greetings, salutations and all that stuff. I hope you have been able to keep cool and the garden watered!

The Cavalcade to Owaka is shaping up to be another grand affair! Entries are slightly up on last year at the same time so thanks very much if you’ve already put your entry in. If you are sitting on the fence or know someone who is better get onto them quick as trails will start closing any day now.

Still plenty of space on the walking and bike trail so if you can encourage anyone in that direction that would be good.

Owaka Host town committee have been putting in a power of work behind the scenes and are well on track to deliver another great celebration day to finish the Cavalcade with. If you haven’t got your Dinner, hoe down or breakfast tickets yet you can email terry@cavalcade.co.nz and he’ll add them to your registration.

Apart from the Cavalcade the OGHT office is busy with heritage restoration projects and planning for some more schools to experience gold panning and wagon rides behind a Clydesdale. We did a couple schools last year and hope to get around all the primary schools in Central Otago over a two year rotation. To help with these projects we have a raffle $5 per ticket to go in the draw to win a full once ingot of gold. If you would like a ticket or even better if you think you could sell a book of 10 tickets please give Odette a call in the office on 03 4450 111 or flick her an email on oghttreasurer@gmail.com .

Those coming on the Cavalcade keep an eye out for another email with all your pre-cavalcade need-to-know information coming out in the next couple of weeks.

The future of the Cavalcade looks secure and exciting as Hawea has just been named the Host Town for 2019. So much to look forward to!

OK. That will do for now. Keep cool and we look forward to seeing lots of you next month!
